Theatre Arts
Theatre Arts is open to all students, grades 9-12. It is an introductory class in acting, improvisation, voice, movement, playwrighting and design.
Dance
Dance is open to sophomores, juniors and seniors. It is a sampler class. We explore social dance such as Waltz, Tango and Salsa in the first trimester. The second trimester consists of units in Ballet, Modern and Musical Theatre. During third trimester we explore Jazz, Hip Hop and Choreography.
Technical Theatre
Students enrolled in Technical Theatre will learn about Set, Costume, Prop and Light Design. Students will be involved in designing, building and painting all the of the sets for the drama department's season. In addition, students will learn to build costumes and specialty props. Students will also explore the world of sound and stage management for theatre. This is a new class for the 2010-2011 school year and is open to all grades.
Advanced Drama
Advanced Drama is open only to students who have been approved by Ms. Rust. Students must have completed Theatre Arts and must be invited to join the class. Students study a form of acting entitled Transformational Acting developed by Sande Shurin in New York City. Sande was Ms. Rust's teacher in New York. In addition, students may complete units in Shakespeare, swordplay, voice and movement. Students will write, direct, produce and act in their own pieces as their culminating exercise for this class.
